Pastors are to demonstrate the mind of Christ as they proclaim the Gospel of God. Some seem to have a better understanding of the culture and promote the culture and not the mind of Christ. They may think like the world and not like the Savior. The best preachers know the irrelevance of the culture surrounding them.

My desire is to know the mind of Christ and explain the superiority of the heart of God over the culture. When a preacher stands as a representative of Jesus Christ, he should know how the Master Teacher thinks and put His understanding of time and place on display. The only way to proclaim the mind of Christ is by being a faithful student of His inerrant Word. What happens to preachers who become obsessed by the relevance of culture and become worldly themselves? Sound biblical exegesis defies the poverty of humanism and we must, “Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the hearers. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness.” 2 Timothy 2:14-16 NASB.
