Crucified or Not?

I often read statements like this:

“Baptists and others like them present ‘easy beliefism’.”

My answer is simple, for those who think God elects those who will go to Heaven; what is so difficult about that? No faith required just accept you may or may not be one of the elect…hmmm. How difficult is this?

“There are two of ‘me’ living inside of me: the old self and the new self, and they always fight over what ‘me’ is to do.”

The biblical answer is this: “Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin.” Romans 6:4-7 NASB.

Jesus tells us, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:16-18.

And Paul writes, “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” Ephesians 2:8-10.

And the Apostle continues with, “But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”-that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.” Romans 10:8-11.

Yes, it is simple enough to believe that Jesus saves the one who expresses faith in Him alone. But, folks, God did not, did NOT, elect some to go to Heaven and the remainder to go to Hell.

Jesus is Lord.
